Terms of Service
Version 2026-09-04. Draft — not yet published. Effective date TODO: date of publication.
These terms are the agreement between you and Mokuo Software LLC (“Mokuo”, “we”), registered at 5441 S Macadam Ave Ste N, Portland, OR 97239, United States, for your use of the RacketPilot apps, this website, and the accounts service behind them. By creating an account you agree to them, and to the Privacy Policy.
One document covers both sides. A stringer is also a player — one login is both — so there is no separate stringer contract. Where something below applies only to one of them it says so.
RacketPilot is available in the United States only at present.
What RacketPilot is, and what it is not
RacketPilot introduces badminton players to racket stringers, and gives a stringer the tools to run their bench. We do not string rackets. We are not a stringing service, we do not employ stringers, and a stringer is not our agent, partner or representative.
The stringing agreement is between you and the stringer. When you book a job, the contract to string that racket is between the two of you. Mokuo is not a party to it. We do not set prices, we do not decide who accepts your work, and we do not guarantee that any job will be accepted, carried out, or carried out well.
What we do provide is the place you find each other, the record of what was agreed, and the tools around it — the queue, the price list, the messages, and the reviews.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 years old to have an account. Junior players are common in badminton; if you are under 18, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you.
- You must be at least 18 to string for other people through RacketPilot. Setting up a shop means taking on paid work, other people’s property and your own tax obligations, and that is an adult’s undertaking. A player under 18 is welcome; a stringer under 18 is not.
- Give us details that are true, and keep them up to date. A stringer needs to know whose racket they have.
- Your account is yours. Keep your password or passkey to yourself, and tell us at support@racketpilot.com if you think somebody else is using it. What happens under your account is your responsibility.
- One account per person. A stringer runs their shop from the same account they book their own rackets with.
Booking, and the work itself
A stringer sets their own prices, their own catalog and their own turnaround, and decides which jobs to take. What you see in the app is what that stringer published.
A price can change once the racket is in hand, because some things are only visible then — a cracked grommet strip, a frame that has moved, work that turns out to be more than was described. A stringer should tell you before doing it, and the two of you agree the new price between yourselves. We do not set prices, approve changes to them, or arbitrate what a fair one is.
If something goes wrong with a job — a racket damaged, a tension not as asked, work not done — that is between you and the stringer in the first instance, and the messages on the job are there to sort it out. Tell us at support@racketpilot.com if you cannot, and we will help where we reasonably can, but we are not the counterparty and cannot put right work we did not do.
If you are a stringer: you are responsible for the work you take on, for the prices and services you publish, and for whatever licenses, insurance and tax obligations apply to your business. You are running your own business, not working for ours.
Walk-ins, and jobs you write down yourself
A stringer can record a job for somebody who never used RacketPilot — a clubmate, a friend, somebody who turned up at the door. That is what the walk-in feature is for, and it exists because a stringer’s bench does not sort itself into customers who found them here and customers who did not.
A job written down here does not mean we introduced anybody. We did not bring you that customer, we are not part of whatever you agreed with them, and no money for it passes through us. The record is a tool for running your bench, not a claim by us on the work.
If you record somebody else’s details, they are your responsibility. Enter a walk-in’s name or contact details only where they would expect you to, keep them accurate, and tell them how to reach us if they want that record removed.
Rackets, and what stringing does to one
Stringing puts a frame under load, and a frame that was already weak can fail under it. Cracks that do not show, a previous repair, worn or brittle grommets, an old frame, a tension near the top of what the racket was built for — any of these makes damage more likely, and none of them is always visible before the work starts.
Tell your stringer what you know about the racket, and say so if you are asking for a tension outside what the manufacturer recommends. A stringer should say so if they see something that worries them before starting.
We never see the racket. We cannot tell you whether yours will take the job you are asking for, and we do not judge whether a stringer should have gone ahead. Where a racket is damaged, that is between you and the stringer, as above.
Meeting in person
Dropping off and collecting a racket usually means meeting somebody, often at their home. We do not check anybody. There is no background check, no identity verification, no proof of insurance, no inspection of anybody’s premises, and no vetting of skill beyond what you can see in the app. A stringer appearing here is not a recommendation from us.
Use your own judgment about where and when you meet, and take somebody with you if that is what you would rather do. If you are under 18, arrange it with a parent or guardian.
Paying for stringing
Payment for a job happens directly between the player and the stringer, away from RacketPilot. We do not take payment, we do not hold money, and no card number, bank detail or payout account passes through us. How you pay — and when — is for the two of you to agree.
You are free to arrange work off RacketPilot, and we do not forbid it. What we will say plainly is what it costs you: a job that is not booked and completed here leaves no record here. It does not appear in the racket’s stringing history, it cannot be reviewed, and it does not count towards a stringer’s reputation on the platform. That is a consequence of how the record works rather than a penalty.
What RacketPilot costs
Players pay nothing. Finding a stringer, booking, messaging and keeping your racket history is free, and is intended to stay free.
Stringers pay nothing during the founding period, which ends TODO: founding period end date. After that, running a shop here needs a paid subscription. The price is published before you sign up, not sprung on you afterwards — it is on our pricing page — and stringers who joined during the founding period keep a lower rate than the one published. We will tell you before anything is charged for the first time, and you can stop at any time.
A subscription buys software, not customers. It pays for the tools you run your bench with. It is a separate thing from the money a player pays you for stringing, which never passes through us, and we do not take a share of that.
Nothing is being charged today, and there is nothing to cancel. The paragraphs below describe how a subscription will work when one exists, so that the terms you agreed to already say it.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, at the price and interval shown when you bought.
- Cancel where you bought. A subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play is billed by Apple or Google, and is cancelled in their settings rather than ours. One bought directly from us is cancelled with us.
- Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not cut you off that day. Paid features stay until the period you have already paid for runs out.
- Refunds follow whoever took the money. Apple and Google apply their own refund policies to purchases made through them. For anything bought directly from us, the policy shown at checkout applies. Nothing here takes away a refund right the law gives you.
- Deleting your RacketPilot account does not cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription. They are separate, held by different companies, and a subscription you leave running will keep billing you after your account is gone. Cancel it first.
Acceptable use
There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior on RacketPilot. Content that breaks this section is removed, and accounts that post it are suspended or closed.
Do not use RacketPilot to:
- harass, threaten, bully, stalk or impersonate anybody, or encourage anyone else to;
- post content that is hateful towards a person or group, sexually explicit, violent, or that sexualises a child in any way;
- post anything unlawful, or arrange anything unlawful through the messages;
- post a review that is dishonest, that is about work that never happened, or that you were paid or asked to write;
- post somebody else’s personal information, or a photograph of a person who has not agreed to it;
- post content you do not have the right to post, including photographs and text belonging to somebody else;
- advertise something unrelated, send bulk or repeated unwanted messages, or use the platform to scrape, resell or rebuild the directory;
- interfere with the service, work around its limits, or try to reach data that is not yours.
We may remove content, suspend an account or close one where we reasonably believe this section has been broken. Where the situation allows it we will say why.
Reporting, and blocking somebody
If you see something that breaks the section above, report it. In the app, a message and a review each carry a Report action, and reports are read and acted on. From this website, where you are not signed in, every review carries a “Report this review” link that writes to abuse@racketpilot.com — and you can write to that address directly at any time.
You can also block the other person in a conversation, from the conversation itself. Blocking stops messages in both directions. It does not delete what was already said, so the record of a job stays intact for both of you.
What you post
What you write and upload stays yours. You give us permission to store it, and to show it to the people the service is meant to show it to — your stringer, your customer, and in the case of a stringer’s public profile, reviews and photo, anybody browsing. That permission lasts as long as the content is on the platform, and ends when it is removed, except where somebody else’s copy of a conversation or a job record legitimately keeps it.
A review has to be your honest opinion of work actually done. Reviews are published without the reviewer’s name.
If you upload a photograph, it has to be yours to upload. We remove the location and camera details a phone stores inside a photograph before we save it — see the Privacy Policy.
What is ours
RacketPilot itself belongs to us. The apps, this website, the software behind them, the name, the logo and the way it all looks are Mokuo’s or our licensors’. Using RacketPilot does not give you any of it.
Do not copy the software, take it apart to work out how it is built, sell or sub-license access to it, or scrape the directory to rebuild it somewhere else. Where the law gives you a right to do one of those things regardless, it stands.
Your own content stays yours, as above. This section is about ours.
The service itself
We work to keep RacketPilot running and to fix what breaks, but we do not promise it will always be available, always be free of faults, or keep working with every device. Features change, and some are withdrawn.
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties about it, and none about any stringer, any player, or any work arranged through it. We do not vet stringers beyond what the app shows you, and a review is one person’s opinion rather than our endorsement.
Closing an account
You can leave whenever you like. Ask us to delete your account and the data with it — see Support, which explains how and what happens to what we hold.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm somebody, or where we are required to. Where the situation allows it we will tell you why, and you can reply to support@racketpilot.com about it.
Jobs already booked and messages already sent do not vanish when an account closes. A stringer keeps their own business record of work they carried out, stripped of anything identifying the customer.
Our liability
Because the stringing agreement is between you and the stringer, we are not responsible for the work, for the racket, for whether either of you turns up, or for what either of you agrees. We are also not responsible for what a stringer or a player says to you.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, and our total liability to you for anything connected with RacketPilot is limited to TODO: liability cap, and whether it is capped at fees paid or a fixed sum.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
If you cause us a loss
If somebody brings a claim against us because of something you posted, something you did on the platform, or a job you carried out, you agree to cover what that reasonably costs us.
Changes to these terms
When these terms change we update the version and the date at the top. For anything material we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and where the change needs it we will ask you to agree again.
Law, and where disputes are settled
These terms are governed by the laws of Oregon, United States, and disputes go to the courts of TODO: venue — and whether arbitration and a class-action waiver are being used, which is a decision rather than boilerplate.
